As the end of the season draws near and with the summer transfer window just around the corner, transfer rumours have already started as clubs look to strengthen their squad for next season. We round up all of today’s gossip and rumours and find out who is moving where.
According to the Daily Mirror, Thibaut Courtois will be allowed to leave the club in the summer when Antonio Conte takes over from Guus Hiddink. The Blues have endured a dismal season and look set to be without European football next season. Although this may help them during their league campaign, big-stars such as their Belgian keeper may look to move on. PSG and Real Madrid are rumoured to be interested in the shot-stopper and Chelsea will not block a move as they believe that Asmir Begovic is a suitable replacement but may also target Southampton’s Fraser Forster who impressed upon his return from injury.
Chelsea are also in the race for Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Arsenal have expressed their interest in the Armenian international who could leave Germany this summer. Mkhitaryan has been in exceptional form this season and would deal another heavy blow to Dortmund if he decides to leave after Mats Hummels expressed his desire to join Bayern Munich. The 27-year-old, who once turned down a move to Liverpool, would be an excellent signing for any Premier League club willing to splash out on a big-money deal.
Corinthians believe that Alexandre Pato will still be a Chelsea player next season. The Brazilian forward joined on loan in January but was not match fit which limited his first-team opportunities. The former AC Milan forward will remain in London should the Blues take their option to make his move permanent in the summer.
Manchester City are targeting West Ham starlet Reece Oxford ahead of Pep Guardiola’s arrival at the club. Oxford earned rave reviews following an outstanding performance against Arsenal early in the season but has seen first-team action restricted in order to protect his development. The Hammers are keen to keep their prized asset but a move to the Etihad might be too hard to resist for the youngster. However, he may feel it is too soon to move to a big-club which proved the case for the Jack Rodwell when he left Everton.
The race for Rennes prospect Ousmane Dembele is on as Liverpool look to challenge Borussia Dortmund for his signature. Dembele has become one of the most promising youngsters in the world following his break-through season in Ligue 1. Reports suggest that his release clause could be as low as £5m and the German club are favourites to secure his services. Jurgen Klopp will be hoping he can change the 18-year-old’s mind and persuade him to move to Anfield
