Liverpool vs. Arsenal Preview

Liverpool welcome Arsenal to Anfield in the Saturday late kick-off with both sides looking to cement their place in the top four of the Premier League.

The Gunners arrive on Merseyside needing a result to stay in the race for the top four. They managed to beat Sutton United in their last fixture but were humbled by Bayern Munich in their Champions League first-leg at the Allianz Arena. The pressure is on Arsene Wenger to start picking up results.

There might not be a better time to play Liverpool as Jurgen Kloppโ€™s men are enduring a horrendous run of form. The Redsโ€™ poor results in 2017 seemed to have turned following a dominant victory over Tottenham, but their performance was undone by a dismal showing against Leicester.

Another slip-up by Liverpool could see them slip out of the race for the Champions League if Manchester United can overcome Bournemouth and Tottenham pick up a result against Everton. Klopp will take encouragement from Liverpoolโ€™s record against top-six clubs, but another massive result is needed against the North Londoners.

Arsenal are likely to be without Aaron Ramsey who is struggling with a calf problem while Mohamed Elneny might also miss the trip due to an injury he picked up against Sutton. Wenger will welcome Mesut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny back to the starting line-up.

Liverpool will be without Jordan Henderson; who missed the clash with Leicester due to a foot injury. Klopp confirmed that the captain will miss the visit of Arsenal but could have Daniel Sturridge back after he missed the trip to the King Power with an illness. Dejan Lovren is also expected to return the starting line-up meaning Lucas Leiva could drop to the bench.

These two sides met in the first game of the season; with Liverpool coming out 4-3 winners at the Emirates. Both teams have struggled defensively this season meaning this game should guarantee goals.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Arsenal
